There’s a reason Squaw Valley’s KT-22 was voted the best chairlift in North America. It’s simply paradise for any expert skier who wants to explore 2,000 vertical feet of steeps, chutes and cliffs.
Simply put, it’s an icon in the ski world, and it opens today:
The announcement of the opening from Squaw Valley put shockwaves through mountain enthusiasts looking for a thrill. It’s some of the best inbound backcountry riding in the country, with steep chutes the likes of which aren’t seen in ski resorts. With over 110 inches of snow far this year, the opening is much earlier than the area typically sees.
Due to the dangers of the advanced ski area, a lot of work is put into it’s opening and Squaw Valley employees work year-round to keep it as safe as possible.
