As Northern California braces for what’s proving to be the area’s first major winter storm, the North Coast could see the first wave of the weather system in the form of extremely high winds on Monday and Tuesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory throughout Monday for sections of California’s northern coastal area in Mendocino, Humboldt and Trinity Counties. Winds are expected to reach 40 mph on Monday and get much stronger on Tuesday evening:

According to Bay Area meteorologist Rob Mayeda, the winds could reach 70+ mph during the peak of the storm along the coast on Tuesday night:

The winds are expected to bring massive waves and high tides to the Northern California coast, with swells as big as 35 feet:

This storm is quite the departure from the historically dry weather in NorCal throughout the months of October and November, and it’s not expected to let up anytime soon. Forecasts show that 8 of the first 9 days of December will seem storm activity throughout NorCal. Winter is definitely here…
