Video Shows Crazy Scene in Dunsmuir with Cars Backed Up for Miles on Snow-Laden I-5
With the closure of Interstate 5 between Redding and Yreka on Tuesday and Wednesday, it’s caused quite the commotion for anyone hoping to complete their holiday travel plans in the area. A video was shared to the Sacramento Bee by Josh Cantu, showing a crazy scene just south of Dunsmuir where cars were backed up for miles:
While southbound traffic is now open on I-5, northbound remains closed with no ETO for reopening. It looks like those cars might be stranded there for a while:

Southbound I-5 is currently open. NB I-5 continues closed with no estimated time for reopening. There is nothing we can say at this point other than our Maintenance forces continue working non-stop as we speak. We'll update on highway reopening.
An impressive share! I have just forwarded this onto a coworker who had been doing a little research on this. And he in fact bought me lunch because I discovered it for him… lol. So let me reword this…. Thank YOU for the meal!! But yeah, thanx for spending time to discuss this issue here on your web page.
