This Interactive Map will Show You All the Open Campsites in Northern California

As the seasons transition from winter to to the summer months, it’s been really difficult getting information on exactly what’s open. Finding information on open campsites has been very tedious, but that’s changed with a brand new interactive map.

The National Forest Service released a map to find out exactly which campgrounds are open and which ones aren’t. You can scroll around through California and pick and choose each campground, even linking to the place to reserve a spot.

As you can see, many places in the Shasta-Trinity National forest are open:

When you get to the map, click on the dots which indicate if something is open or not, from campsites to boat launches. If the icon is green, it’s open. If it’s a light-brown color, it’s closed. Click on the dot and follow the link to reserve that site.

While there are a lot more closures in the Tahoe/Sierra Nevada area:

Kudos to the National Forest Service for providing this fantastic resource. We now have one place to find all the open outdoor destinations in NorCal. Enjoy your next adventure!
