Surfers Use Winter Storm to Ride Chilly Waves on Lake Tahoe

When a recent windy winter storm descended upon Lake Tahoe, the waters moved with a bustle only seen a few times a year. When most people in the area look for cover from the storm, surfing enthusiasts headed to the water to ride some rare Tahoe swells in chilly conditions.

Photos and videos emerged showing surfers riding some small but ferocious waves on December 22nd:

While surfing Lake Tahoe is a rare occurrence, this is far from the first time surfers have been seen on the lake. In fact, if the wind is just right, waves can get as big as 10 feet on the lake:
