Sundial Bridge Will Light Up Blue This Week in Honor of Frontline Workers

Thursday, March 11th, marks the one year anniversary of the declaration of COVID-19 as a global pandemic. To recognize the commitment and honor the resiliency of all front line workers in keeping our community safe and healthy over the past year, The City of Redding will light the Sundial Bridge blue from Monday, March 8th through Sunday, March 14th.

The City of Redding hopes that the bridge, all lit up in blue, will remind front line workers from every facet of our community that they are appreciated for every sacrifice they have made and every step they have taken to provide support for the people of Redding, amid the most challenging circumstances.

“Front line workers, from every sector, have never stopped taking care of Redding – even with the risk to themselves and their families. Their commitment to caring for our community, especially those who are ill, will get us through this pandemic. We hope this show of support for them is a reminder of just how much they are appreciated,” said Mayor Erin Resner.

In an effort to continue the progress the community has made in slowing the spread of COVID-19 and to honor these front line workers in a tangible way, the City of Redding asks the community to continue to stay vigilant in wearing masks, social distancing, staying home when you are not well, and getting vaccinated.
