See the Damage Done by the Magnitude 6.2 Earthquake in Humboldt County

At 12:10 pm on Monday, a magnitude 6.2 earthquake hit off the Humboldt coast, causing a large shake felt throughout Northern California. The quake was especially strong in the communities of Humboldt County with some damage reported near the epicenter.

With reports of the earthquake felt from Chico, Roseville and even the Bay Area, Humboldt homes and businesses received a devastating shaking that left significant damage to businesses, especially in Ferndale. Bear River Casino was evacuated for the day, along with other businesses who experienced broken windows, fallen ceiling panels and destroyed merchandise. There were also reports of roadway flooding due to broken water pipes in Fortuna.
