Update – 10 am:
The Redding Police Department has announced there are no evacuations in the city limits, but only in unincorporated regions in west Redding:
“Evacuations are taking place in unincorporated Redding, which falls under county jurisdiction. At this time, there are no evacuation orders within the city limits.”
Update – 6:30 am:
The Zogg Fire has grown to 15,000 acres overnight in Shasta County and Monday morning has seen forced evacuations in unincorporated Redding. A mandatory evacuation order is underway in West Redding, including Muletown Road from Placer Road north to Kanaka Lane. Diggins Way from Placer to the North is also being evacuated, as well as all roads off Diggins Way and Muletown Road.
At 4 am Monday morning, the Redding Police Department announced there was “no immediate threat to Redding.” While the fire had mostly moved southwest overnight, there is now a slight threat to West Redding residents. Here is an updated map of the fire as of 6:45 am Monday:
The fire has burned dozens of homes in Igo and Ono along Platina Road, but the final number has not yet been released. Firefighters spent the night protecting homes as the fire moved south, extending from the area just south of Whiskeytown all the way down to Gas Point Road to the west of Happy Valley.
The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office has urged nearby residents to heed evacuation order for the protection of themselves and fire officials.
“It is not safe, for you or the first responders working on the fire, for you to enter closed areas to view the fire. Even if you think you are far enough away, emergency personnel are constantly coming and going on those roads responding to this emergency,” wrote the sheriff in a Facebook post.
Here are the current mandatory evacuation orders:
- All areas south of South Fork Rd & Zogg Mine Rd.
- South along Gas Point corridor including all residents along Gas Point Rd. to Foster Dr. Platina Rd west to Tehama Co. line.
- Residents evacuate east bound HWY 36 to collection point at Holiday Market on Gas Point Rd Cottonwood
- Muletown Road from Placer Road north to Kanaka Lane
- Diggins Way from Placer to the North is also being evacuated, as well as all roads off Diggins Way and Muletown Road.
We will continue to update the situation as more information is made available.
