Following an absent year due to the Covid pandemic, Whiskeytown National Recreation Area has announced it will resume its ranger-led kayak and paddleboard programs this summer.

Besides getting out on the water for an extremely low price, Whiskeytown’s ranger-led kayak and paddleboard programs introduce visitors to the unique natural and cultural history of the national recreation area. Both programs last about two hours, with Covid safety precautions in place and tour sizes reduced.

These popular programs will occur May 28 to September 5. Kayak tours will occur on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 9 am. Paddleboard programs will occur Thursdays and Fridays at 1:30 pm. During weeks of the full moon, 7:30 pm moonlit kayak tours will take the place of the morning kayak program.

Pre-registration is required and can be made up to two weeks in advance at: https://tinyurl.com/5apwnfxx. There is a $1 fee per person (an entrance pass is also required). While no prior paddling experience is needed, you must be six or older for the kayak programs and 10 or older for paddleboards.
