Mt. Shasta Put on Another Incredible Lenticular Cloud Show This Week

By Zach O’Brien

Here we go again! I just happened to be in the Mount Shasta area on Friday, January 11 and watched as a massive lenticular cloud formed over the mountain mid-morning. It was incredible to watch up close, so I attempted photograph it while driving, but from my vantage point, it was only slightly spectacular:

It was certainly a missed opportunity, but much to my chagrin, I went home to find many people in the area were able to capture the beautiful lenticular cloud that hovered over the mountain for most of the day.

Let’s take a look at some of the best photos of the cloud from social media:

I was driving on a backroad north of Mount Shasta, heading back toward the freeway. I was content with the photos I had from the past hour I had been cruising around and pulling over to get different perspectives of the mountain and clouds. Even after the top of the mountain turned bright orange then pink. Now with the scene to my right, all of a sudden, the lenticular cloud that had been hovering around the mountain all day, turned bright pink, with a small grayish blue formation to the right, the mountain perched between the two. What caught my eye were two red tail hawks soaring feet above the ground, one with its wings and talons stretched out swooping towards the ground. Thats when I pulled over and made a few more images, which I think this one is my favorite. #mountshasta #mtshasta #lenticular

So spectacular! It was truly an incredible view to experience up close and personal. Luckily for you, some real photographers were on the scene to capture the event!

P.S. now you know why some people believe aliens live in the mountain. Have you ever seen anything look more like a real-life UFO?
