Lassen Park Highway Will Close Tuesday Due to Snowstorm

The first major winter storm is set to slam Northern California this week and Lassen Volcanic National Park might see the most snow accumulation in the state. As a precaution, the National Park Service will close the park highway between the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center and Loomis Plaza on Tuesday, although the park will remain open.

Although the park will remain open, the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center will close with the expectation it will reopen on Wednesday. The visitor center will then close again on Thursday for Thanksgiving.

If you do plan on visiting areas of the park on Tuesday, be prepared to deal with significant snow-related traffic delays, as cars may be backed during the storm. And of course, expect possible chain controls and possibly more road closures during the significant weather event.

  1. Having read this I thought it was extremely informative. I appreciate you finding the time and effort to put this information together. I once again find myself spending a significant amount of time both reading and leaving comments. But so what, it was still worth it!
