Lake Shasta Caverns Preparing to Reopen this Week

Another major Northern California reopening will occur on Shasta Lake this week, as Lake Shasta Caverns has announced it will reopen to the public on June 12.

“To ensure the safety of our employees, guests and community, we have worked diligently to create a modified operational plan, complying with all of the suggested protocols,” wrote Shasta Caverns on Facebook. “We strongly suggest the wearing of masks by our guests, but Shasta County does NOT mandate the use of them.”

Lake Shasta Caverns is a three-tier adventure off the Interstate 5 O’Brien exit north of Shasta Lake, offering a boat ride across the lake, a bus ride up the mountain with beautiful views and a tour of the crystal and calcite formations of the cave. The caverns is and National Natural Landmark and one of the best adventures in all of NorCal!

We recently sat down with Matt Doyle, the General Manager of Lake Shasta Caverns, to discuss the lake and the caverns during the Covid-19 pandemic. Listen here:
