Heavy Snow Falls on Mt. Shasta Ski Park with Opening on the Brink

Mt. Shasta Ski Park trail cam on Monday morning

The snowfall hit Northern California hard this weekend, with storms blanketing the mountain regions of Lassen, Tahoe and the Eastern Sierra. Mount Shasta may have seen the heaviest snowfall during the storm bringing renewed hopes that the Mt. Shasta Ski Park will open soon.

As of Monday morning, the park reported 5 inches of snow at the base, with plenty more at the top of Coyote and Douglas lifts. The park had announced a tentative opening date of December 15 and with another storm forecast to bring more snow on Friday, the park may be able to begin running its lifts before Christmas, possibly even in the coming week.

“A transformation has taken place here this weekend!” the park wrote on Instagram. “We received about a 5 inch blanket at the base. This week we expect more snow! We are getting close!”

Let’s keep snow dancing and hope for another great season on Mt. Shasta Ski Park! For information on passes this season, go here.
