Evacuations Ordered as Russian River Reaches Flood Stage

Residents of Guerneville have been urged by officials to evacuate the area as the Russian River nears flood stage in Sonoma County.

The warning was issued at 11 am on Tuesday as officials anticipate the river at Guerneville reaching the flood stage of 32 feet by 6 pm. The river is expected to reach 46 feet on Wednesday, 14 feet above flood stage.

The nearby Napa River is also expected to hit flood stage near St. Helena around 5pm on Tuesday and the counties of Napa and Marin are both on Flood Watch.

Meanwhile, flooding and mudslides are causing closures and delays in Point Reyes National Seashore. It is recommended to avoid the area altogether.

Four school districts have already closed in Sonoma County as torrential rain is forecast until Wednesday afternoon.
