Beloved Trinity River Rafting Company Destroyed in Monument Fire

The Monument Fire destroyed multiple structures in Big Flats on Friday, including the beloved Trinity River Rafting company.

The Monument Fire grew to 36,015 acres with no containment on Friday as it continues to threaten structures in the communities of Big Bar, Del Loma, Big Flat, and Burnt Ranch. On top of the burning of Trinity River Rafting, three residential structures were burned by the flames.

The fire, driven by extremely dry fuels in Trinity County, has closed Highway 299 3 miles east of Burnt Ranch to 3 miles east of Big Bar, halting any traffic attempting to commute from the North Coast to the North Valley.

Trinity River Rafting has been a staple of the Northern California outdoor community for more than a decade. Owners Dave and Dana have been providing rafting adventures in the region for many years. Here is the trip we took with them last year:
