Base Jumper Seen Making Illegal 3,000 Foot Leap Off Yosemite’s Glacier Point

A daredevil donning a wingsuit was caught on camera leaping off a 3,000-foot-tall ledge at Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park, an illegal activity punishable by a fine of up to $2,000.

The video was captured by photographer Chris Fabregras and posted to social media:

Although the video doesn’t show where and in what condition the base jumper landed, the footage of the takeoff shows he had a long ride down to the bottom. The identity of the base jumper was never found and according to Fabregras, they were accompanied by a second jumper.

Base jumpers are known to frequently wear wingsuits, which add surface area to the body and allow for lift in their jumps. The practice is extremely dangerous, hence its illegal status in Yosemite.
