Camping is great but if you prefer the comfort of glamping, you can stay in an iconic silver bullet Airstream at a camp opening in Yosemite in 2019. AutoCamp is an outdoor hotel experience that offers Airstreams and high-end tents in picturesque locations, and its newest offering is a 35-acre site in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, not far from Yosemite National Park.

With locations already in Santa Barbara, California, and the Russian River Valley in Sonoma wine country, Autocamp Yosemite is due to open in early 2019. Accommodation includes 15 luxury tents, three cabin suites and 80 custom-designed deluxe Airstream trailers. Including high-quality linens, bedding and bathrobes, the camp aims to re-imagine the outdoor lodging experience for modern holiday-makers.

The glam camp will feature a 4000-square-foot clubhouse with a scenic roof deck that’s perfect for stargazing, and an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub and fresh water pond. There is also a reception, meeting space, indoor/outdoor lounge areas, and a curated marketplace offering artisanal food and beverages.

Large-scale, low-slung seating areas with fire pits are situated throughout the clubhouse, showcasing striking views of the natural surroundings and encouraging a communal experience. There are hiking trails nearby, and an on-site shuttle stop for easy access to Yosemite National Park. In addition to the park, guests can also explore the town of Mariposa, which has its own rich history, strong local community and many restaurants, breweries and coffee shops.

AutoCamp aims to provide alternative lodging by blending the traditional outdoor experience with the service and design of a boutique hotel. It is also in the process of purchasing additional properties in California and the western US, as well as several East Coast locations.
