6 People Rescued Atop Cars on Flooded Butte County Road

Officials across Northern California have pleaded with the public not to attempt to drive through floodwaters in the wake of this week’s storm. Even with flooding prevalent across all communities of NorCal, some drivers didn’t heed their warnings.

Just before noon on Wednesday, a Butte County search and rescue team went to Lower Honcut Road near Highway 70 to rescue six people who were stranded atop four cars amidst deep floodwater. As the cars entered the water on the road, it became deep and they eventually had to head to the top of their cars to avoid the water.

A swiftwater rescue team launched a boat to rescue the stranded group, eventually successfully removing them from the area.

Do not attempt to drive through floodwater. It might end up a dangerous venture.
