The flames of the Dixie Fire grew intense Wednesday, with the fire completely devastating the town of Greenville. According to a photographer on the scene, the town experienced “near total loss.”

Greenville, California sits on the southeastern flank of Lake Almanor with a population of a little over a thousand people. On Wednesday evening, the town saw many of its structures burned in the fire.

“There isn’t much left from Main St. North for about a mile,” said weather photographer Brandon Clement on Twitter. “I can’t say what it looks like past that but it’s not going to be good.”

Photographers on the scene captured these images, showing complete destruction in the town:

The flames were boosted by severe fire conditions this week, with a Red Flag Warning in effect until Thursday afternoon. The Dixie Fire now sits at 278,227 acres with 35 percent containment.
