Sheesh, what a bummer.

Although Memorial Day isn’t the official first day of summer, for many in Northern California, it signifies a transition from spring weather to the hotter, drier months. That doesn’t look to be the case this year.

The National Weather Service is forecasting cooler temperatures, rain and even a little mountain snow for the 3-day weekend. On top of that, thunderstorms are forecast Saturday through Monday, mainly over the mountains.

The weekend may also include another dusting of snow, with the lower Sierra Nevada seeing up to a foot of snow.

Squaw Valley resort received nearly 3-feet of snow this month pushing their winter snowfall total past 700 inches and giving some rare May powder days for skiers:

As of Friday, there is no word whether one of the many events in NorCal has been cancelled, but it would be safe to check online information before attending any outdoor event.

Bundle up, NorCal! It’s not quite summer weather yet!
