Thunderstorm Brings Massive Balls of Hail to Kirkwood, California

While most of Northern California sat through incessant heat reaching triple digits on Tuesday, Kirkwood, California near Lake Tahoe received a thunderstorm that brought balls of hail reaching 2 inches in diameter.

Around noon on Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a thunderstorm warning for the area of the Sierra just southwest of Lake Tahoe.

Then around 3 pm, the hail started falling on the area, bringing massive balls of hail reaching 2 inches in diameter. Residents of the area took to social media to show just how big the hail got during the storm:

What a weird thunderstorm to hit NorCal in the middle of a heatwave! Luckily, no significant damage or injuries were reported during the storm.
