Satellite Images Show Incredible Snowpack in the Sierra Nevada

From the ground, it’s pretty evident that winter has arrived in Northern California. Thats being said, NASA’s most recent photos of the Sierra Nevada from space are still shocking.

Showing just how much snow has fallen in the past two weeks, NASA tweeted out stunning before and after satellite images of the Sierra Nevada. Let’s just say, the mountains have quickly turned to white since Thanksgiving:

Meanwhile, The United States Department of Agriculture released their map of the current snowpack of the western states, and parts of NorCal looked the healthiest of them all.

With 184 percent snowpack of average, Tahoe is already primed for a great winter. Here is the map from the USDA:

It’s hard to say if this snowy trend will continue, but we’re going to enjoy it while it lasts!
