The National Hockey League has been hosting outdoor games across North America over the past few years, even hosting games in Southern California and the Bay Area. Now, a world-renown outdoor destination in Northern California is set to host two outdoor games in 2021.

Edgewood Tahoe Resort is planning to host two outdoor hockey games in February, with the Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers all slated to play in the 2-day event. While spectators won’t be allowed in attendance, the league is hoping to highlight the beauty of Tahoe in the background of the games.

The Avalanche are scheduled to play the Golden Knights on February 20 and the Bruins are scheduled against the Flyers on February 21. Both games will be televised nationally on NBC.

The Edgewood Tahoe Resort is also the host of the annual American Century Celebrity Championship, which has become the premiere celebrity golf event in the country and turns Tahoe into a who’s-who of celebrities every summer. The resort sits on the beautiful shores of Lake Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe.

The NHL looked at several outdoor destinations in America and Canada while planning for the event. They made trips to Lake Louise, Alberta and Park City, Utah before settling on Tahoe.
