National Parks Wave Entrance Fee for Visitors During Coronavirus Outbreak
The National Park Service has announced that it will wave all entrance fees to National Parks during the Coronavirus outbreak. This will significantly reduce the financial burden to park visitors as Americans look for healthy activities while practicing social distance.
“I’ve directed the National Park Service to waive entrance fees at parks that remain open. This small step makes it a little easier for the American public to enjoy the outdoors in our incredible National Parks,†Secretary David Bernhardt of the Interior Department, which oversees NPS, said in a statement.
“Our vast public lands that are overseen by the department offer special outdoor experiences to recreate, embrace nature and implement some social distancing,†he added.
Although the National Parks remain open, many of the services that visitors are used to may not be available. Much like during a federal government shutdown, visitor centers and other services will be shut down, leaving all visitors to practice extra safety precautions and pack out what you bring in.
The three National Parks in Northern California include Yosemite National Park, Lassen Volcanic National Park and Redwood National Park. The outdoor destinations of California State Parks will also remain open without their indoor facilities
