The Mill Creek Watershed (Hamilton Road) area of Redwood National and State Parks (RNSP) will be closed from Monday, August 12, through mid-October to ensure public safety during a major bridge and road repair project. The work will include removing a failing culvert and replacing it with a bridge on one of the main roads in the watershed.

During the construction, the watershed’s roads will see heavy traffic with large trucks and equipment, and there will be no emergency response to the east of the construction area until the project is completed.

For cyclists, hikers, and horseback riders looking for alternative recreational opportunities during the closure, there are many opportunities throughout Redwood National and State Parks, Tolowa Dunes State Park, and the Smith River National Recreation Area.

For more information about Redwood National and State Parks, including opportunities to learn more about the parks’ natural and cultural resources, current restoration and preservation plans and work, and ideas for recreation, check out the RNSP website at:  www.nps.gov/redw. Or, stop by any RNSP visitor center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.
