Following the weekend of the summer solstice, the first official day of summer, Northern California is going to officially feel like the summer season with soaring temperatures bringing triple-digit heat to the North State.

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch Monday through Friday as some areas will see heat reaching 110 degrees. It’s not the first heatwave of the summer, but it’s certainly the hottest.

The rising temperatures will be seen throughout NorCal, with areas near Redding, Chico and Clearlake experiencing the 110 degree heat. Per usual, any places sitting in the valley will see the dangerous heat.

Health officials ask the public to stay hydrated, dress for heat and keep an eye on elderly, children and pets during the week. The hottest parts of the day will be between 4-7 pm, with the coolest coming between 4-7 am.

This week will be a perfect time to beat the heat by visiting any NorCal swimming holes. Find some swimming holes with our 5 Best Swimming Holes to Beat the Heat.
