Donate to Support the Family Who Lost Their Home in the Mountain Fire

The Mountain Fire in the Jones Valley area of Redding is all but extinguished, but like so many other wildfires we see in Northern California, the scars remain. One of the most prominent videos of the fire showed a house up in flames during the afternoon of Thursday, August 22nd:

The family who lost that home is now looking at a long road to recovery and is accepting donations through GoFundMe to help get them back on their feet. Allison Lynn, who’s house burned down on her son’s third birthday, told her story on GoFundMe:

Hi all. For those that don’t know me, my name is Allison. I have a son named Zakari who turned 3 the same day the mountain fire burned our home down. We didn’t have insurance on our home due to it being canceled after the snowstorm Redding had about 6 months ago. My boyfriend and I tried to obtain new insurance but by the time we were looking into it again, insurance companies weren’t starting new policies during wildfire season.  I’ve been told it’s due to the massive loss our city had last summer from the Carr fire and the high dangers of fire in our city. A lot of people in our community have been asking how they can help and I’m very bad at saying we need certain things, even though we need everything. I’m not the kind of person to ask for help like this and  I feel bad doing so because I know a lot of other people are in need too. I was told by a few people I should try this and see what happens.  We lost all necessities in the fire so the money raised will be used for replacing those things and some toys my son  received at his birthday party that he was in love with, just so things feel a little more normal to him. In advance I’d like to say thank you to anyone who donates and/or shares this post. We really appreciate it.

Most NorCal locals know a person or 20 that have lost their home in the past year to wildfires. We know it’s not easy to recover from such a devastating event. To donate to Allison’s GoFundMe campaign, go here.
